John “Ball 40” Updates
The John Ball 40 watches have started to arrive batch by batch at Grand Rapids Watch Company! Batch 1 is looking exceptional, and batch 2 is already on the way! We’re truly in the final stages now before these start getting shipped out, with only two hurdles left to clear!
1. The cardboard shipping boxes to ship the watches to you are here! However, the Grand Rapids Watch Company branded watch boxes to hold the watch have not arrived. They should be here in a few weeks. Alternate boxes have been acquired to make sure that those who have been waiting for their Ball 40 the longest can get theirs as soon as possible.
2. Since these watches contain a battery, they must be compliant with Reese’s Law. This law was enacted in 2022 after an 18 month old tragically died after ingesting a button cell battery. This law requires specialized testing to be conducted on all products that contain coin cell batteries to ensure that children cannot easily access the battery, even if the product(s) are not intended for children. Our samples for testing have arrived at a lab in Georgia, and we anticipate a full pass by mid month. After that has concluded, we’ll be able to send watches out!

What’s Next?
Change is in the air outside, and inside here at Grand Rapids Watch Company. A lot of ideas have been swirling around, and the Head of Quality Pawtrol, Rosie herself, even had some input. I have begun designing what will hopefully come next, and there are quite a few options. I have mocked up rough draft dials (that I am constantly tweaking) for a textured Sand Dune field watch, a Blue Bridge Diver, a secret red diver (I am exploring licensing options for this red local landmark), and am beginning to work on a pet inspired watch. Here’s a peek at some of the early work so far. Let me know what you think!
